Detailed System Overview & Scope of Work

Wood Fiber Cement Bonded Acoustical Ceiling Tiles

Product Overview

Wood Fiber Cement Bonded Acoustical Ceiling Tiles are used for acoustic ceiling treatment, decorative ceiling finish, and thermal insulation in auditoriums, halls, studios, conference rooms, corridors, and interior ceiling areas.

The system uses 20 mm thick wood fiber cement bonded acoustical tiles made from pine wood fibers bonded with cementitious material. The porous and textured surface helps absorb and diffuse sound, especially in mid and high frequency ranges, while improving interior aesthetics.

The tiles are installed on a 15 mm black grooved silhouette ceiling grid system with calculated air gap behind the tiles to improve acoustic performance.

Purpose

The purpose of this ceiling system is to reduce noise, improve sound clarity, and provide a decorative acoustic ceiling finish.

It helps in:

  • Reducing reverberation and echo
  • Improving speech and sound clarity
  • Diffusing sound waves to avoid sound dead zones
  • Supporting acoustic ceiling treatment with air gap
  • Providing thermal insulation
  • Enhancing ceiling aesthetics with textured finish

Installation Layer / Actual Process

1. Base Ceiling / Structural Soffit

The work starts from the existing RCC slab or structural soffit. Ceiling levels, grid layout, suspension points, and service openings are marked as per approved architectural drawings and EIC instructions.

2. Suspension System

The suspension system is fixed to the structural soffit to support the ceiling grid.

  • Suspension spacing: Maximum 1200 mm c/c
  • First and last suspension point: Maximum 450 mm from adjacent wall

3. Silhouette Grid Installation

A 15 mm black grooved silhouette grid system is installed using main runners and cross tees.

  • Main runner spacing: 1200 mm c/c
  • 1200 mm cross tees fixed at 600 mm c/c
  • 600 mm cross tees used to form 600 mm x 600 mm modules
  • Cut cross tees longer than 600 mm to be independently supported

4. Perimeter Trim Fixing

Wall angles are fixed around the perimeter for proper edge support and alignment.

  • Wall angle size: 3000 mm x 19 mm x 19 mm
  • Wall angle fixing: Maximum 450 mm c/c

5. Air Gap Provision

A calculated air gap is maintained behind the acoustical tiles as per acoustic design requirement. This helps improve sound absorption, control reflections, and reduce reverberation.

6. Tile Placement & Finish

20 mm thick wood fiber cement bonded tiles are placed accurately on the grid. Panels shall be spray painted in the approved colour for final finish and protection against moisture, dust, and dirt.
